Volvo extends services for European public charging stations

Volvo Cars has entered into a new partnership with Digital Charging Solutions, one of the world's largest providers of electromobility services, to offer its customers an expanded range of services. This updated service will be launched for customers in Europe at the end of November.

One of the biggest challenges faced by drivers of fully electric cars has been gaining access to a reliable and seamless public charging infrastructure. The new developments, which will see Volvo use the Digital Charging Solutions platform, will make it even easier to use public fast charging stations and expand their availability, making charging your car away from home more convenient and hassle-free than ever before. It will all be done on the Volvo Cars app.

Access to more networks and public charging stations than ever before

Owners of the existing Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge all-electric models, as well as those interested in the upcoming EX90 and EX30 models, will gain access to a truly extensive network of more than 1,000 different charging station operators, who together have more than 590,000 public charging stations in 30 European countries.

One of the key advantages of this service is the ability to travel seamlessly between different countries. The extension of the range and coverage of the available network means that drivers of fully electric Volvo cars can now drive even further.

New features for a seamless driving experience

At Volvo, they are committed to continuously improving the range of services associated with charging at public stations, ensuring that these services meet the evolving needs of both private and corporate customers. Based on this commitment, they have decided to introduce a range of new features.

This is the Plug & Charge feature, for example. The new Plug & Charge feature will be compatible with the new flagship, all-electric EX90 SUV. This is a feature that promises a truly seamless experience when using public charging stations, as it eliminates the need for complicated transactions and allows customers to charge their vehicles really easily.

Another feature is remote control of the charging process. Customers will now be able to start and stop the charging process via the Volvo Cars app, giving them greater flexibility and control over their charging.

It also includes monthly billing and bills for company drivers. New features also include the ability to set up an account for a company driver for VAT purposes and company billing, which will make accounting easier for corporate customers.

In addition, prepaid offers are available for customers to gain access to discounted rates at high-capacity charging stations. These offers will vary from market to market, ensuring the best possible value for customers.

"We continue to focus on the needs of our customers with a focus on driving fully electric Volvo cars. Making more public charging stations available than ever before, plus through one app, allows our customers to enjoy their electric car journeys to the fullest," said Julia Sandén, Commercial Director for Charging at Volvo Cars.

Markus Bartenschlager, Sales Director at Digital Charging Solutions GmbH, then said, "We are delighted to be working with such a strong and well-established car company as Volvo Cars, which is on the path to 100% electrification. At DCS, we are constantly working to make charging easy and affordable for everyone, and we are very pleased to be able to offer our service to Volvo Cars customers. By the end of the year, Volvo Cars customers will be able to benefit from our growing network of public charging stations. We look forward to a successful and beneficial cooperation."
